Carnelian is a beautiful orange crystal that many people enjoy using in their daily lives. It is said to have many benefits, including increasing your motivation and sense of creativity. Something I used to wonder myself as well, is whether or not Carnelian can go in water. In this blog post, we will explore the answer to that question and provide some tips on how to clean your Carnelian crystals safely! Can Carnelian Go In Water? Carnelian can go in water, however it is not recommended to do so for extended periods of time. If you choose to clean your Carnelian crystals in water, make sure to use regular tap water. Doing so will help prevent any unnecessary damage to the crystal. If you do choose to clean your Carnelian crystals in water, make sure to do so gently. Gently rinse them off under running water and then dry them off with a soft cloth. It is best advised to only rinse the Carnelian and not let it soak in water any longer than necessary. As rain water contains minerals and pollutants, it is not advisable to clean Carnelian in this way. If you live in a particularly polluted area, it is best not to use it on Carnelian. Even though rain water is better than salt water, it is still not as good as using purified or regular tap water. As rain water also has a higher chance of containing dirt and dust, it is best to rinse your Carnelian crystal off with clean running water. Gently pat it dry afterwards with a soft cloth or let it dry naturally in the sun. If you choose to do the latter, make sure to collect the crystal as soon as it has fully dried in order to prevent the sun from possibly damaging the crystal or causing it to fade in color. You could either use the smoke of sage or incense. Another great way to cleanse the crystal is using affirmations. Simply speak or write out your desired outcome for the Carnelian and hold the crystal in your hand while you do so. If you choose to use sage or incense, the best way to go about this is to light the sage or incense and pass the crystal through the smoke. Make sure to open a window if you're using incense or sage and don't leave it burning unattended. For a closer connection with nature, you could also bury it in the earth overnight as this is a great way to both energetically cleanse and charge the crystal at the same time. If you're looking to cleanse your Carnelian crystal for a specific purpose, such as getting rid of negative energy, there are other ways to do this as well. One way is to use a crystal such as black tourmaline, which is great for absorbing negative energy. Selenite is also a good cleansing crystal. Simply placing your Carnelian on top of a Selenite tower or cluster will help cleanse it energetically.
